Your Body is Your Temple

One of the first things I learned growing up was that you need to take of yourself.  Just like a plant needs water, oxygen, nutrients, and sunshine to grow we need to give our bodies good nutrition, oxygen, and water to live and be healthy.

It is important to recognize the fact that our body is our temple and we need to worship it, take care of t and give it what it needs on a daily basis.  You only have one body and no one else can do it for you. So it starts with taking responsibility for your health and wellbeing. It is important to be open to learning what it is that you need to do to create a healthy lifestyle.

One of the things that you need to do is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, preferably raw, whole grains, seeds, and nuts. It is important to get 7-9 hours of sleep so that your body will rest and rejuvenate. It does most of its healing at night.  Managing your stress is also key to good health.  By meditating or doing yoga or other exercise you can release stress and help maintain balance in the body. Exercise also raises the endorphins in your brain and creates a feeling of well-being.

Managing your stress also plays a part in how much nutrition your body can absorb. If you are stressed on a regular basis and don’t release it and manage your stress,  your body is not able to benefit from the Sunny Sarahnutrients in the foods that you are ingesting, even though you may be eating nutritious foods.

So don’t forget to eat nutritious foods every day, drink at least 6-8 glasses of water and get plenty of sleep nightly. Make sure to take time for yourself every day to sit quietly, rest, or meditate to help manage your stress. You can also take a walk or do something to get your body moving. Remember, your body is your temple.
